THE ROLE OF RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN THE PREVENTING OF INTER-TAJIK CONFLICT
Russian peace-keeping activity was one element in a range of contradictory and often dangerous policies and activities in armed conflicts on Russia’s borders in the post-Soviet period. Russia, from the beginning, was deeply involved in all these conflicts both in a political sense, because of the desire of autonomous regions or Russian minorities within other post-Soviet republics to join the Russian Federation, and in a material sense, because of the supply of Russian arms and mercenaries and even the involvement of regular Russian units in these conflicts following the collapse of the Soviet military machine. Moreover, the conflicts threatened Russia’s own security.

Nuclear program that is being realized by Iran today is one of the key aspects of the country’s foreign policy doctrine and the cause of serious foreign policy pressure on Iran from a number of world powers, in particular, the United States. However little attention is currently paid to the historic and political aspects of the development of the Iranian nuclear program, in particular, its gradual development, the start of which was given in the period before the Islamic revolution, by the forces of the monarchical regime of the Pahlavi dynasty. Herewith, it is important to note that a number of foreign and domestic policy factors of that time have led to a situation when the necessity for Iran to have its own nuclear program was fully supported by secular and monarchical regime of Pahlavi shahs and by Ayatollah Khomeini who replaced them as a result of the Islamic revolution.
